Dahlia Schweitzer will explore the metamorphosis of the solitary detective figure and the many facets of the genre itself – from noir to mystery – on the screen and why we are so fascinated with true crime.

GUEST BIO:

Dahlia Schweitzer is an Associate Professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her latest book, L.A. Private Eyes (2019), examines the tradition of the private eye as it evolves in films, books, and television shows set in Los Angeles. Previous works include Going Viral: Zombies, Viruses, and the End of the World (2018), Cindy Sherman’s Office Killer: Another Kind of Monster (2014), as well as essays in the Journal of Popular Culture, Jump Cut, and Journal of Popular Culture.
