Mike Stax is a writer and rock and roll historian. Since 1983, he has edited and published Ugly Things Magazine, covering the best overlooked music of the 1960s and ‘70s. He is the author of several books, including Swim Through the Darkness: My Search for Craig Smith & the Mystery of Maitreya Kali, published by Process Media in 2016, and has written the liner notes for numerous reissues. He’s also the lead singer for the psychedelic garage rock group the Loons. He lives in La Mesa, California.
