Janja Lalich, Ph.D. is a researcher, author, and educator specializing in self-sealing, or closed, systems (cults, human trafficking, situations of coercive influence and control, ideological extremism) with a particular focus on recruitment, indoctrination, and methods of influence and control. She is Professor Emerita of Sociology at California State University, Chico and has been studying the social psychology of controversial groups and exploitative and abusive relationships for 30-plus years. Dr. Lalich has written and lectured extensively, has advised the international intelligence community on terrorism and indoctrination, and has served as consultant and expert witness in civil and criminal cases and has appeared on many popular news programs.

Samie Brosseau – The Liberation Point
In the second half of the program, Samie Brosseau will share what it was like growing up in the Twelve Tribes, the challenges she faced when she escaped and how she has found healing through helping others overcome similar experiences.

Samie Brosseau is the Founder and Director of Liberation Point, which provides assistance to cult victims and their families. She was born into the Twelve Tribes Communities (formerly known as the Northeast Kingdom Community Church and the Vine Church), a cult founded in Chattanooga, Tennessee back in the mid-60s.
