Wendy Moxley Roe – The Tormented Spirits of Old Joliet Prison
The iron bars of Joliet Prison might once have held John Wayne Gacy, “Baby Face” Nelson and other notorious inmates as unwilling guests, but their stories now desperately cling to the prison’s limestone walls. Wendy Moxley Roe unlocks the gates of Joliet Prison’s haunted heritage and takes us to the creepy and haunted Bachelors Grove Cemetery.
GUEST BIO
Photographer, history buff, cemetery enthusiast and paranormal investigator Wendy Moxley Roe is best known for her work with Bachelors Grove Cemetery in Midlothian, Illinois. She met her research partner, Karl K., at the cemetery in 2012. Together they designed, built and maintain The Path to Bachelors Grove, which includes a website, a traveling exhibit and multiple social media sites dedicated to Bachelors Grove Cemetery.
Through tedious research, Wendy has pieced together much-forgotten history and burials of Bachelors Grove Cemetery and surrounding settlement. You can see the collection as a work always in progress on their website.
In the spring of 2014, Wendy visited Old Joliet Prison for the first time. The visit that day started the six years of exploration during which she collected the research that appears in Haunted Joliet Prison. In the spring of 2019, Wendy launched Tombstone Travels, a blog site to house the cemetery, historical and paranormal stories she was writing. The blog site would be the catalyst for Haunted Joliet Prison.
